PARENT INVOLVEMENT IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION-1

       (THE BEGINNING)

Learning can be fun for children and they can excel academically and socially to become a well-rounded and outstanding citizen of the world if parents would be an active part of their growing educational lives.
It's not enough to send your child/children to the best of schools, or employ the best and most recommended private home tutors. You as a parent have to create time to follow up, teach, and help your children through their schooling and learning experiences.

While we acknowledge that in a traditional school program, parents should leave the teaching functions to the professionals-teachers to do, parental involvement in their children's academics has also been seen to yield immense successes. Parents should take pro-active re-enforcement in their growing educational lives.
The question that comes to mind here is: What are the areas of need that agitate the need for parent involvements in the general learning process?
One of the problems some children face in early child education, that causes challenges in their learning is in the areas of “Reading and Comprehension.”  We shall be looking at this subject matter in this discuss, as it relates to ‘What can parents do to help their children with reading at home?’

According to "The Report of the Commission on Reading (Becoming a Nation Reader)"
"Reading is a basic life skill. It is a cornerstone for a child's success in school, and indeed, throughout life time. Lacking the ability to read well, denies the opportunities for personal fulfillment, and job success will be inevitably lost."

This has significant effects on the nature of crucial information children
are exposed to in their early life. For a child to succeed in school and mentally in the social upbringing, reading is a key component.  This is required in all subject areas of learning. For example, reading comprehension passages can help a child travel the world. One can learn about different places, and in fact about everything through reading.
